Scientifica

Scientifica manufactures and distributes high precision scientific equipment for use by electrophysiology and imaging researchers.

Founded in 1997, the company employs more than 70 people across two sites in Uckfield and Maidenhead; in 2013 the company was acquired by Judges Scientific Plc.

Scientifica develops its products by collaborating with researchers in leading universities around the world. By understanding their needs and incorporating these into its designs, the company has been able to introduce many new products into its niche market.

Exports account for more than 75% of sales. The US is the biggest market, followed by France, Germany and the rest of Europe; in addition the company is now trading in China, Japan, Korea, and Australasia as well as India, Brazil and the Middle East.

The company’s success has been recognised by the winning of many awards, including the Queen's Award for Enterprise: International Trade in 2012 and for Innovation in 2014 for its Multiphoton Imaging System.

Matt Kemp

Managing Director

Since university Matt has worked within a laboratory environment throughout his career, beginning within quality control for a perfume company then moving to pharmaceuticals, and in particular, developing an interest in electrophysiology. This culminated in him joining Scientifica in 2000 as one of the company’s earliest employees.

Matt has been part of Scientifica ever since and has enjoyed working with researchers all over the world on wide ranges of projects using electrophysiology and multiphoton imaging.

Matt became Managing Director of Scientifica in January 2018 and is very proud of the company’s development over the past 20 years.
